A bit of Sunday fun. An old colleague of mine runs the Uig Hotel on the Isle of Skye. I spotted on Facebook that he’d found a log that had a bunch of knotholes that bore an uncanny resemblance to ET. We fired it out this morning to some of our contacts in the national media. I hope it gets Billy and his hotel lots of bookings. It’s a beautiful part of the world – and Billy runs a great hotel. Press release below….
Hotel owner Billy Harley, who runs the Uig Hotel on the Isle of Skye, has found an amazing image of ET, the extra-terrestrial, inside the trunk of a tree he was chopping to make firewood for the popular bar of his hotel.
He said: “The weather has got a lot colder in the last week and I was getting some additional logs ready to keep the place warm for our guests. I put the chainsaw through a trunk and there was ET staring back at me. I phoned home and my wife brought a camera out to take some pictures.”
“We’re not quite sure what to do now. We could turn ET into a coffee table or a bar stool maybe.”
The Uig Hotel is a popular destination for visitors to the Isle of Skye. The Harley family are now hoping that they’ll attract more visitors to the appropriately-named island, perhaps wishing for a glimpse in the sky of ET’s parents coming to collect him.
Scotland and the Islands have a long association with mysteries. The Loch Ness Monster is the most famous. The recent science fiction film Prometheus was also partly set on Skye.
The Harleys are also considering naming one of the rooms after the famous alien.
